In this article, you will learn how to create an email newsletter
that you can use to captivate the attention of your email list.
For me, the first thing I do every morning after praying
is to check my emails (Yahoo/Gmail) for any unread messages. This is probably
what the majority of people do.
And since your mobile phone is always close to you, it
makes it easy to access your email frequently.
This is why any business that is not using email to
market their products or pass information to their audience is missing out big
time.
With the rate at which other forms of digital marketing
is becoming more popular most people believe that email marketing has lost its
credibility but they are wrong. Email marketing still remains a very reliable
way business can use to reach their audience and increase sales.
Why You Need Email Newsletter
Chances are that you already have a subscribe button on
why website or blog that your reads can subscribe to your newsletter but what
would be the use of collecting emails when you not going to keep up with them
regularly via email. This is why you need an email newsletter.
Research shows that the majority of people that surf the
internet to purchase a product or looking for information to solve a problem
will likely subscribe to one email newsletter or the other.
Once you have been able to get lots of people to scribe
for your email newsletter, chances are that you will make more sales than using
other digital marketing strategies.
My Reason
The reason has been that for someone to agree to signup for
your newsletter they are very much interested in what you have to offer unlike
other marketing sources that when you use you have to keep hoping that they
will purchase your product. This makes email marketing cost effective.
If you run a blog, you can use an email newsletter to drive
more traffic to your blog whenever you make a post.
The problem most people have is how to create an email
newsletter for their list and this is what this article will cover.
First things First!!!
What Is Email Newsletter?
Have you ever visited a website and see a popup where you
were asked to input your email address and when you did, you start receiving
emails for the website or blog? Well, that’s an email newsletter.
The moment a person subscribes to your list, you are granted the opportunity to market your products and services to them via email.
Email newsletters are used by businesses to keep in touch
with their clients on their latest products, offers, company news, upcoming
events and so on.
Businesses and blogs can use email newsletter as a way of
keeping their brands fresh in the minds of existing or potential customers by
regularly sending them information about their products or service.
The Aim Of An Email Newsletter
It all depends on the type of business that you are into
that will determine the aim of an email newsletter. For instance, if you are a business that manufactures products or offers services to people, an email
newsletter can be used to increase sales to your products and offer free tips
that will be helpful to your customers.
If you are a content writer, an email newsletter can be used
to notify your readers whenever you publish a new article on your blog there
driving constant traffic to your blog contents.
Mistakes People Make With Email Newsletter
When someone signs up for a business email newsletter
they expect to receive valuable information about your products and services.
That is not the case with most of the email newsletter I see out there. The
moment sending out crappy newsletter your subscribers will get bored and
unsubscribe.
Another mistake most email newsletter make is to
constantly floor their subscribers with emails upon emails. For email
newsletter to be effective, you have to schedule a time and the number of an email
newsletter that your subscribers will receive on a daily basis. Sending 5 email
newsletters a day for me is too much.
What A Good Email Newsletter Entails
A good email newsletter entails that your customers
receive first-hand information about your products and services before anyone
else does. This shows them that you value them and chances of them buying from
you are high. When this information is been sent, it has to have a “Call To
Action” button so people can easily make a purchase.
Here Are What You Need To Do To Create An Email
Newsletter
Have An Aim
Since email newsletter can be used for numerous reasons,
having a specific aim to what you hope your email newsletter will achieve is
the first key. You have to first ask yourself if the email newsletter you are
about to send out to your subscribers is to drive sales to your products or
service, increase blog traffic or simply just keep in touch with your
subscribers.
This is how it works if you are about to launch a new
product to the market and your target is to give your customers a heads up on
the product so they can keep their debit or credit cards close by you will then know that you have to create a
newsletter highlighting the features and how the new products will benefit
them.
What Kind Of Newsletter Will You Be Sending
Since newsletter are used for various reasons you should
also consider what kind of newsletter you want to send. Will the email
newsletter be just to advertise a product, to remind customers of your product,
for a blog post, or is it going to be in series like a boot camp where you teach
people on a particular topic for a specific period of time. This will go a long
way to determine how long your email newsletter will be.
Have A Scheduling Plan
As earlier said, you don’t want to start flooring your
customers email with lots and lots on newsletters, this is why you have got to
get a scheduling plan ready.
This will determine if your customers will receive an
email newsletter from you on a daily, weekly, quarterly or yearly basis.
Having a schedule is very good as it keeps you organized
and focus on your goal.
Create Content
Once you have put a scheduling plan in place it will help
you to start creating your contents. The reason has been that it will help you to
know how many contents you will have to create for a particular period of time.
Since content is king and the possibility of people
taking action on whatever your target for the email newsletter is for will be
determined by your content you will have to do everything possible to write a
great content.
The first thing you should look out for is that whatever
content you will be writing must contain valuable information for your
customers. This is where research comes in.
If you are able to write a full page of content from the
top of your head it is good but I recommend you do a lot of research before
drafting out your content.
You can do research on other businesses that are
related to your niche and see how they structure their newsletter contents.
For one of my other blog, I sign up to blogs newsletter
that is into my niche just to see how they do theirs so I can perfect mine.
This is not to say you have to copy everything they do,
the goal is to get a broader idea and enhance your content.
Customize Your Template
The moment you are done creating your content then it is
time for you to customize a template. Writing your content before customizing a template helps give you an idea of how many layers your content will require in
the template you will be customizing.
Using the right tools to create your email newsletter is
very important.
There are several tools out there that make it easy for you
to customize an email newsletter template. Aweber, MailChimp, Convertkit,
Getresponse and the rest help you to customize awesome templates. The easiest
time of template to customize would be to use the drag and drop editor tools.
Keep in mind that whatever template you are creating must
be responsive as that people can access it from any device. You don’t want it to
look nice on the desktop while mobile users won't be able to access it.
If you are not good at customizing a template you can use
services like Fiverr, upwork to outsource help from others.
Use Images
Once you have successfully customized your template and
inserted your contents in it, it is wise you add a nice looking image(s) to it.
Instead of people clicking on your email newsletter and seeing just plain text,
images can be used to attract them to read your contents to the end.
Add A "Call To Action Button"
If the aim of your newsletter is for your subscribers to
purchase a product, visit a post on your blog or simply to take a survey using
a “call to action button is very important. This can be a simple text such as
“Take A Survey Now”, “Get Your Offer Here” and so on I am sure you get the gist
all you have to do is make sure you are creative with your call to action. This
call to action button should be hyperlinked with the URL of your blog, landing
pages and so on.
I advise that when inserting a call to action button it
should be placed at the end of your content. If you have been able to capture
your reader's attention with your content you want your call to action button
the next thing they see.
Start Sending Your Newsletter
Once all the above steps have been put in place now it is
time to start sending your newsletter to all email subscribers. There is
nothing technical to do at this point all you have to do is click the send
button and wait to see the result of your newsletter.
Wait For The Outcome
You don’t expect to see positive or negative results
immediately. You can wait for a couple of days then go back to check how your
newsletter has done so far. You don’t want to jump into conclusions in a hurry
I suggest you give it a week or two to get the final outcome. Whatever
information you are able to gather will help in the creation of your next email
newsletter.
